Synergy: Bad Girl Ventures

Bad Girl Ventures is certainly an eyebrow-raising name, but Candace Klein’s mission with BGV is one after our own heart: empowering women by capitalizing their businesses. She describes her Cincinnati-based program as “Kiva.org meets The Apprentice”- women vie to earn a chance to complete a six-week course in entrepreneurship, and later the chance to receive funding and/or underwriting for their business endeavor. Want to learn more about BGV and Candace? Check out her website, or read the Cincinnati Enquirer’s coverage of yesterday’s launch.

We love kindred organizations seeking to bank the underbanked, so we decided to get involved. ECDI is pleased to announce that we’re partnering with BGV and hoping to underwrite and fund at least one of the participating businesses this fall. Together, we’d like see Ohio as a place where women-owned businesses are plentiful and thriving.
