Building your Advisory Board

September 28, 2010 § Leave a comment

It is invaluable to have personal mentors to guide us through life’s choppy waters, be they neighbors, parents, teachers, or friends. But what happens when things aren’t smooth sailing for our business and career?  Many women business owners report a perceived lack of access to resources and technical assistance, putting them at a disadvantage to their male counterparts. In response to this inequity, the ATHENAPowerLink program began in 1999 to helped women-owned businesses expand and succeed through the use of professional advisory panels.

How can an advisory panel help your business grow? ATHENA and the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) are presenting a workshop next week in Columbus, where they will seek to answer this and other questions, such as:

  • Why is an advisory board so helpful to an emerging business?
  • What resources do you really need?
  • Who are the right people?
  • How do you pull the expertise together and how do you make it work?
  • Where can you learn the answers to these questions?
