Our Haunted Schoolhouse: Halloween and United Way charitable campaign kickoff

October 29, 2010 § Leave a comment

We threw a Halloween party for staff and families in our spooky haunted schoolhouse on Tuesday, but honestly, we were all too busy binging on candy and pizza to be frightened by any rogue restless spirits. The best part is that we also got to kick off our United Way charitable giving campaign, getting ECDI staff excited to give back to the community.

Much of the delicious spread was thanks to the culinary genius of Amy Szabo, Development Director by Day, and baker/chef by night (often, by really late night.) Staff enjoyed Reese’s pieces-studded blondies and spooky meringue “bones”, among others.

Among the cute costumed nuggets roaming around, I spotted a bunny, a skeleton, a Lego, Minnie Mouse, a policeman, a bandit, a Power Ranger, and a jester.

Is one bedbug an infestation? What if it’s person-sized?

A minor celebrity even graced our presence when the model from the Shake Weight infomercial and his witchy fiancee showed up!

We kicked off ECDI’s United Way charitable giving campaign, yours truly did some marginal facepainting on some mercifully patient kids, and everyone got all sugared up right before their bedtime. A successful Halloween shindig.

Party made possible by the efforts of Amy and Catherine. Party made cute by my coworkers’ kids.
